HCP001 – DANIEL DANGER – “Where Ashes Take the Form of Houses

Working out of Tiny Media Empire, his art/publishing studio in Boston, MA, Daniel Danger is an illustrator, printmaker, and one-third of the post-punk band, A City Safe From Sea.  His art evokes haunting images of old houses dead from the fallout of urban sprawl, railway bridges asleep from neglect, mature themes of adolescence, and trees and ghosts powerful enough to engulf everything.  He has shown at galleries and exhibitions worldwide, and his client list includes many of today’s top rock bands and media outlets. For this print we made an Intaglio-type with an image that Daniel had created for the album art of the Aloha record “Home Acres.”  The image was digitally separated into two positives and exposed to ImagOn coated plates.  The first printed layer is a textured lamp black that gives the print a soft atmosphere.  The second plate is printed in black and consists of detailed line work the evokes the graphic qualities of a lino-cut.  This print has an edition of 50 with 10 artists proofs.  The paper size of the image is 28″x48″ with a plate size of 18″x36.”

HCP002 – LEAH ALLEN-COSTA- “Self Portrait

Leah Allen received a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art Non-Toxic Printmaking in 2004 from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Studying under Keith Howard, she helped research and develop many of the techniques pioneered by Howard. She is also featured in his book, The Contemporary Printmaker.   Leah’s work concentrates around the construction intaglio-type which is a technique that utilizes cut pieces of ImagOn photopolymer as a mark making tool.  By layering the film Leah is able to create skeletal like figures with a rich, deep surface.  The symbol of the horse has a deeply profound and personal meaning to her, as it relates to her childhood and teenage years on her grandparent’s farm.  Leah currently resides in Boulder, Colorado where she massages rabbits and continues to study and draw animals.  To see more of her work please click here.  This image has an edition size of 25 with 5 artists proofs and is printed on 24″x31.5″ paper.
